Armed with a poem, eight-year-old Nina Kanana Muema recently disarmed Deputy President William Ruto and moved the big man to shed a tear of joy.
The young girl, fondly known as Nana, is now Ruto’s personal friend after wooing him with her moving lines dubbed AmI Not Lucky?

She touched Ruto’s heart during a fundraiser at MCK All Saints Kinoru Methodist Church in Meru County on Sunday.

In the poem, the Standard Three pupil at Consolata Primary School described Ruto as a good person and leader.

The Deputy President’s eyes welled up with tears of joy after Nana told the crowd that she is the only one allowed to call him Uncle Willy.

Evangelist Paula White on Monday shared photos of her wedding to gospel musician of the Journey and Bad English music groups, Jonathan Cain.

The televangelist, who has gone through two divorces, said she is excited on the prospects of her third marriage.

She captioned photos of her wedding thus: “Such a beautiful wedding! God is amazing!”

Paula and Jonathan have each been married twice before and have children from their previous marriages.

Evangelist Paula married her first husband Dean Knight when she was a teenager and they had a son together, Bradley.

In 1984, she became drawn to the gospel and church and turned Christian; she divorced Dean, soon thereafter.

In 1989, she met Randy White who was a preacher and the two got married a year later. They later announced to a church congregation in 2007 that they were divorcing.

Jonathan married his first wife who was a singer, Tané McClure in the late 1970s and they later divorced.

In 1989 he married his second wife, Elizabeth Yvette Fullerton, with whom they had three children but later divorced.

Raila’s Raila’s sister, Kibaki’s daughter among Uhuru’s new parastatal appointees

Ms Wenwa Odinga, Judy Kibaki and Kalembe Ndile are among newly appointed members of parastatal boards appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta onMonday.

Wenwa has been appointed to the Kenya Medical Research Institute board, Judy to that of the KenyaInvestment Authority and Kalembe Ndile to the Water Services Regulatory Board.

The appointments are for a period of three years starting April 17.

Uhuru made 302 appointments to 79 state corporations, representative of all communities in Kenya, State House spokesperson Manoah Esipisu said in a statement.

“In terms of Mwongozo guidelines and Executive Order No 6 on Integrity, the new parastatal executives will be expected to make a public declaration on fighting corruption,” Manoah said.

The appointments come nearly 18 months after parastatals were appraised. The President appointed a taskforce which evaluated their structure, operations, management policies and governance, Manoah said.

The findings were used to determine how the parastatals contribute to and transform national development.

He said the administration tapped into the wisdom, experience and knowledge of senior citizens and embraced the energy, enthusiasm and innovation of the youth.

“Currently at 31 per cent, women, youth and persons with disabilities will comprise a significant share of the appointments once the exercise is concluded – higher than at any other time in our history,” he noted.

The appointments are in line with the government’s transformative agenda and were published in a special issue of the Kenya Gazette published today.
